Summer is the season to get outside. While the sun is shining brightly, it is nice to take a refreshing dip, relax on a rug in a park or head to the seaside.

Picnicking is one of the most fun summer activities when the weather is nice. It gives you a chance to spend time in nature and get together with friends. Haarlem has many places in and around the city where you can settle down on a rug. Some of these spots are listed here listed here.

Haarlem is ideally located near the beach. Enjoy the beautiful coast of Bloemendaal and Zandvoort. Experience the refreshing sea air during a beach walk, relax on a beach bed or have lunch at one of the many beach bars. Between Haarlem and the sea lies National Park Zuid-Kennemerland. The park has a wonderful range of hiking trails and especially the Kennemer Dunes are very popular. No wonder! Here you will find beautiful pieces of forest and dune, but also small dune lakes. In dune lake 't Wed it is allowed to swim. The little ones can also splash and play here.

River the Spaarne runs through downtown Haarlem and is a popular spot in the summer. Not only to sail on it yourself, but also to watch boats from the sunny terrace. A number of fine waterfront terraces are here in a row.

At Tasting Park, you can enjoy late summer in Kenau Park.
