Spring begins
in Haarlem

The days are getting longer, the skies are bluer and the flowers are in bloom. Spring is finally here. The season to go out and enjoy. Where better to do that than in Haarlem? 

Feel the spring

From strolling through shopping streets full of flowers to picking flowers in the picking garden. And from visiting the brightly colored Keukenhof to enjoying nature in Zuid-Kennemerland National Park.

You can feel spring in and around Haarlem.

On Sunday, April 7, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Grote Markt in Haarlem will host the
Flower Market with tulip picking garden will be organized. Come enjoy diverse spring
offerings at the Flower Market or dive into the colorful tulip picking garden.

Tulip picking garden on shopping streets

From March 6 to April 2, Haarlem's shopping streets will be in bloom with tulips. Each week different shopping streets will be featured. Would you like to get your hands on a tulip with a bulb? Make a purchase (min. €10,-) at the entrepreneur and pick your tulip! More information

Haarlem chimes

This beautiful spring bloomer is called the Haarlem Chimes. The plant was mainly found in the surroundings of Haarlem, but almost disappeared. Thanks to grower Edwin Visser, the unique plant continues to exist. The Haarlems Klokkenspel is available at VVV Haarlem.

Beach and dunes

Visit Zuid-Kennemerland National Park. The park has a wonderful array of hiking trails, and the Kennemer Dunes are especially popular. No wonder! Here you will find beautiful stretches of forest and dune, as well as small dune lakes. It always feels a bit like vacation.

National Park Zuid-Kennemerland is located between Haarlem and the coast. Enjoy the beautiful coast of Zandvoort and Bloemendaal. Take a relaxing beach walk and experience the refreshing sea air. After your walk, stop by one of the many beach bars for a snack or drink. 


On March 21, the Keukenhof: the most beautiful spring park in the world! The park in Lisse is a setting for 7 million spring blooms. The Keukenhof has activities for adults and for children. You can take a guided tour and there is a treasure hunt. Of course, you can also walk around the park by yourself and take the most colorful pictures. The Keukenhof is open through May 12 and is just a half-hour drive from Haarlem. 

Golden Streets

An average offer? You won't find that in the Golden Streets. What you do find is an old-fashioned cozy shopping atmosphere and countless special boutiques. From concept stores and vintage stores to specialty craft stores and exclusive design.

The seven Golden Streets surround the Grand Place, the central square in the heart of the city. Each street has something special. 

Taste the spring

From eating with friends on a terrace to having a cup of coffee in the first rays of the sun. And from picnicking in the Wood to a cozy brunch with family during Easter.

Easter Brunch

Come for Easter brunch in Haarlem. March 31 and April 1 is Easter. The perfect opportunity to have brunch with family at one of Haarlem's restaurants. You can on both Easter days at Bison Bowling enjoy an Easter brunch. It is possible to bowl beforehand or afterwards. Also star restaurant ML offers an extensive Easter brunch. 

Experience spring

Carefree Farm

In the middle of Spaarnwoude Park you will find Zorgvrij Farm. Here you can pet cows, tap milk, make cheese and romp around in the playground. In spring you can see the newborn lambs! For a cup of coffee or a fresh pancake this is also the place to be. At the pancake restaurant Onder de Platanen you have a good view of the playground from the sunny terrace. Admission is free and there are almost always calves, goats, chickens, pigs and rabbits to see. Zorgvrij Farm is within cycling distance of Haarlem. You cycle through the beautiful natural area of Spaarnwoude Park. 

10,000 steps walk

Want to discover the diversity of Haarlem and be active at the same time? Then our free 10,000 steps walk is perfect for you. 

Stroll from the heart of downtown toward landmarks such as the KoepelKathedral and Molen de Adriaan. Explore narrow streets and Haarlem's canals. Also discover the city's greenery and walk through the Haarlemmerhout.

Catering tips are included in the walk. Enjoy a coffee break, lunch or other goodies. This way you will get to know new catering spots in Haarlem and get the energy to continue the walk!
