WHAT TO DO.

In this city you will be short of eyes.

Discover Haarlem

In Haarlem you can discover culture on the square meter, and there is also a lot for children to do, see and learn. Art treasures from the past, productions of today, building blocks of the future: you can discover them all here in a playful way. Look at your (own) city with different eyes, there is still so much to discover. You don't want to miss this!

From Dutch Masters to modern art, from arthouse film to children's theater, from pop concerts to urban history: those in need of inspiration, art and culture can certainly satisfy their hunger in Haarlem. Not only does Haarlem house the oldest museum in the Netherlands, the monumental city center is bustling with cultural hotspots, (art) history and creative initiatives.

Surroundings

Haarlem has more to offer than just a historic downtown. Take a look at the beautiful surrounding region. For example, the beach is the base of operations for many Haarlemmers. By train you can be at Zandvoort station within ten minutes. Or grab a bike and take the Zeeweg via Overveen to Bloemendaal aan Zee.

Between Haarlem, Amsterdam and Velsen lies recreational area Spaarnwoude. You can enjoy hiking and biking, as well as canoeing, swimming or mountain biking. Also almost around the corner is the colorful Bulb Region and Keukenhof.

Events

There is always something going on in the city. From exhibition to concert, from market to festival and from cabaret to workshop. See all the activities in Haarlem's most complete UITagenda.

Hiking and biking routes

There is no better way to discover the beautiful historic city center and nature surrounding Haarlem than on a bicycle or walking tour! Stroll past the historic monuments in the heart of the city or cycle past the blooming tulips towards the Keukenhof.

On the water

Give your visit to Haarlem an extra dimension with a canal cruise on the Spaarne. You will experience the city very differently. Cruise past historic buildings along the canals and learn more about the city's history and attractions. Or rent a boat and cruise through the city yourself.

Nightlife

Haarlem's nightlife is buzzing with lively cafes, cozy pubs and trendy cocktail bars in the historic city center. The culinary offerings are diverse and music lovers can enjoy a variety of offerings at various venues. Art and culture flourish at night with shows in theaters and performances on various stages. Christmas Market

This year's Christmas market will feature nearly 350 stalls spread across 12 locations in the downtown area. The Schagchelstraat will again be transformed into Emma's Street, where you will go back in time to a real 19th-century Christmas party and the Kleine Houtstraat entirely in the style of the Middle Ages.

During the Christmas Market we have a very extensive entertainment program. Especially on Saturday and Sunday, the entertainment will burst forth with plenty of performances in the downtown area, both indoors and outdoors.
