The seven Golden Streets of Haarlem - Discover them one by one

Warmoesstraat is named after a forgotten vegetable, chard or warmoes. It’s among the most beautiful streets in Haarlem, with its characteristic shops, fantastic places to eat and stunning view of Grote or St. Bavokerk (St Bavo’s Church). The paving stones in front of the buildings reveal what shops they once housed.

Zijlstraat, known from the Dutch version of the board game Monopoly, is not just any street, it is a grand street. In the tall historic buildings, you will find stylish clothes shops interspersed with trendy coffee shops and other great shops.

This shopping street, which connects Grote Markt to Botermarkt, has no fewer than 17 listed buildings. You will find a very wide range of shops here, from fashion to delicatessen and from interior design to toys.

Unique and quirky you will find here

Schagchelstraat is one of the most artisanal and artistic streets in Haarlem. Besides beautiful clothes shops, you will find a violin maker, coffee roaster, piercing shop, various silversmiths and galleries here.

Kleine Houtstraat

Kleine Houtstraat also boasts a number of artisanal shops, selling things like handmade bonbons and silk lampshades, but is also popular because of trendy clothes shops, exceptional specialist shops and an outdoor shop.

In Gierstraat, you will find what may well be the oldest shop in Haarlem: chemist’s shop Van der Pigge, recognisable by the sign on the facade and authentic interior. There are also shops related to spirituality, cooking, children’s books, jewellery, classical music and much more.
