Did you know that Dopper is a Haarlem-based company? Read how Dopper was created, what makes the drinking bottle so special and how the bottle contributes to sustainability.

The birth of Dopper
Dopper was founded in 2009 by Haarlem-based entrepreneur Merijn Everaarts. By introducing a sustainable plastic water bottle, he wanted to raise awareness about the waste problem, which is partly caused by the countless plastic bottles left behind. These bottles contribute significantly to environmental pollution. Merijn searched for a sustainable alternative to the PET bottle and launched his mission through a design contest. The current design of the Dopper is the winning design of this contest.
Dopper is headquartered at Oceans. Oceans is a sustainable hub in Haarlem where impact is made.
The product
Dopper water bottles are designed with a focus on functionality and sustainability. Each bottle consists of three easily unscrewed sections: a bottle with a wide opening, an intermediate section with a smaller opening and a cap that doubles as a cup in reverse. This versatility makes it easy to clean and fill the bottle with tap water. Dopper offers variants in different materials and capacities, including plastic, stainless steel and glass, to meet a variety of preferences and needs.
Sustainability as a core value
Dopper is more than a product; it is a movement for a more sustainable world. Research shows that each Dopper bottle saves 104 disposable plastic water bottles annually, making a significant contribution to reducing plastic waste. The company is a certified B Corporation and follows strict standards on social justice, environmental impact and business practices. This has earned Dopper a spot in the top 10% of all B Corporations worldwide, and in the top 5% of companies with 10-49 employees in terms of environmental performance. Every Dopper bottle and accessory is Cradle to Cradle Certified®, meaning they meet the most stringent sustainability requirements. In 2023, the Dopper Original even achieved Cradle to Cradle Certified® Gold status, making it the most sustainable reusable water bottle in the world.
Toward net zero
Dopper strives to make a positive impact on the environment. As a Certified Carbon Neutral company, Dopper has minimized its carbon emissions and offsets what is still emitted. However, the company goes beyond that; it has set a goal of reaching "net zero" by 2030. This means that Dopper not only reports and offsets its direct emissions, but also considers the emissions of its suppliers.
