Liberation Pop Haarlem

On Sunday, May 5, 2024, Haarlem will once again be dedicated to our freedom. Bevrijdingspop Haarlem is the oldest and most famous Liberation Festival of our country. In the Haarlemmerhout, several well-known acts will perform that day, such as Kraantje Pappie, Danny Vera and Chef'Special. Ambassador of Freedom is Wende. She traditionally arrives in Haarlem by air force helicopter.

Freedom we make together

This year Bevrijdingspop Haarlem is dedicated to the message 'Freedom we make together'. This message is the core of the festival, connecting the organization with the public and reinforcing our commitment to freedom. The freedom theme is reflected at the festival in various ways. For example, the Liberation Fire arrives via a relay from Wageningen and at 5 minutes before 5 o'clock there is a reflection on our freedom. This happens at all 14 National Liberation Festivals simultaneously.

As a Liberation Pop volunteer, you help the foundation make the festival possible. Without volunteers no festival! You can help the organization from April 29 to May 6 with various activities. This can be by standing behind the bar and tapping beers, making sandwiches for the artists, building the stage, setting up tents, or making sure everyone obeys the rules on the day itself. Something for everyone!

Odido Wood Stage (main stage)

After the traditional opening by local Rob Acda Award winner (HUNK), Kraantje Pappie has the Flea Field of Liberation Pop Haarlem singing along as loud as possible right away, with hits like "Zin In de Zomer Man" and "Feesttent." MEROL we know for her quirky synthpop and humorous lyrics. Count on an energetic show with a wink! The Hague band The Indien makes alt-pop with a generous portion of soul, psychedelica and 60's pop. Togo All Stars take you on a musical journey with their infectious afrofunk and voodoo influences. During the 5for5 moment, we reflect on our freedom. Wende is known for her unique voice and quirky musical style, combining elements of jazz, pop and chanson. She is one of this year's Ambassadors of Freedom who will cross the Netherlands by air force helicopter on May 5. Danny Vera is one of the most successful Dutch singer-songwriters of the moment. His music, influenced by Americana and folk, is characterized by a lot of emotional depth, a powerful, recognizable voice and, of course, the Gretsch guitar. Finally, we are treated to a home show by Chef'Special. They close Bevrijdingspop Haarlem with a unique blend of pop, funk, reggae and hip-hop, with hits like "Amigo" and "In Your Arms."

Sena performer stage powered by Bud

For upcoming artists, the Sena performance stage powered by Bud is the place to be during Bevrijdingspop Haarlem. The cheerful and mischievous children's band Slodde & Vos will open this stage with their quirky Dutch songs. The band was unanimously voted Record Store Day talent of the year 2024 and will be at all major festivals this summer.

Elmer is ready to jump on our stage, with a combination of electronic beats, bawdy yet vulnerable lyrics and a colorful set. The progressive rock band DOOL showcases a compelling sound, with deep themes woven into it. Then the sun shines and Goldkimono unleashes his sunny beats on us, with 90's hip-hop influences and summer vibes. The Hague rapper Mula B guarantees a loose atmosphere with hits like "Domme Jongens" and "Meesterplusser. CHO & The CHOSENS will close with unique flows, charismatic charisma and a varied musical style. Liberation Pop has also invited youth organization Triple Threat to host the final two shows of the stage with DJs and MCs from its own stable.
